Our selection of transistors noted as "<10hFE" might actually contain some transistors with gain ranges up to about 40-50 but we noted them as 'LO' on the testing sheet so we label them as "<10hFE"; if you end up with a gain of higher than 10hFE then good for you!
Sometimes, we offer individual transistors measured for Hfe (Gain) and Leakage ranges. In most cases we use the Peak DCA but in some instances we use our proprietary Small Bear transistor matching gear and process. Germanium transistors are notorious for inconsistent performance over time, and we do the best we can to measure and record the specs, although our measurements (like any one else's measurements) are subject to the vagaries of human involvement, older technologies and some uncertainty. In plain english- if you purchase an individually measured transistor, it is not returnable nor refundable. We have measured enough transistors over time to be confident in our methods, and to be reasonably sure we will send you what you order.
