The Moog Micromoog is a monophonic analog synthesizer introduced in 1975, designed as a more affordable, compact alternative to Moog’s larger, more expensive models like the Minimoog. It features a single voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with a range of waveforms, including sawtooth, triangle, and square, along with a basic low-pass filter (VCF) and voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA). The Micromoog is equipped with a 44-key keyboard and offers the ability to modulate the sound through the use of an LFO (low-frequency oscillator), which can modulate the pitch, filter, and pulse width for complex sonic textures. It also includes a unique and iconic touch-sensitive ribbon controller for pitch bending and modulation, which further expanded the expressiveness of the instrument.
