Beers ADC Bar Graph, Multiplexer, Binary Encoder
Beers ADC Bar Graph, Multiplexer, Binary Encoder
This module mixes 3 analogue input signals, rectifies the positive portion, and converts it into as many as 18 gate signals + one stepped output.
IN1, 2, and 3 are combined with an 'attenuverting' style mixer. As only the +ve rectified portion of this mix will make it to the outputs IN3 is normalled to a DC voltage for use as a bias/offset knob with nothing plugged in.
The centre column of jacks is a 7 step bar graph display of the rectified mix with gate outputs for each segment.
The total of the bar graph is encoded into a 3 bit binary word with gate outputs for each bit (A, B, and C) and DAC OUT- a bipolar stepped output.
The 3 bits are also decoded into a 1-of-8 multiplexer labelled X OUT that you can strobe with a separate input X IN. Only one of the eight X OUT gates will be high at a time, and if a signal is plugged into X IN that output will only be high while X IN is high.
To get a nice range of outputs from one LFO, first adjust IN3 (with nothing plugged into IN3) until 4 is lit up on the displays. then patch your LFO to IN1 or IN2 and adjust level until the full range of the bar graph is lighting and going out over the whole cycle. You might need to adjust the bias/offset a bit.
