Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter
The Basimilus Iteritas Alter is a 10hp digital drum synthesizer with its roots in the analog world.
At its core, the BIA is a simple six-oscillator additive and FM synthesizer with waveform, harmonic spread, and decay controls. It also includes an adjustable attack with a noise oscillator for added flexibility.
The BIA's pitch and spread controls affect the fundamental of the first oscillator and offset the remaining five across various ranges, resulting in dense harmonic and timbral alterations.
The Harm control adjusts the module's harmonic decay, meaning that individual volume for each voice is adjusted according to distinct decay values.
The wavefolding sections of the BIA directly modify its internal sound source, providing a means to create complex percussion sounds by altering the waveform and adding crunch and variety.
