Steiner Microcon DIY Kit (MOTM)
This is a full kit to build the classic Steiner Microcon voice module in MOTM format.
The circuit/PCB was recast by David Ingebretsen in 2012, with permission from Nyle Steiner, and is of the highest quality.
The MOTM format panel is professionally manufactured by synthCube using powder-coat aluminum panels to match tradtional MOTm modules.
The kit includes everything required to assemble the Microcon- PCB, panel, mounting hardware, power cable, PCB parts, panel parts, wires, pre-crimped header connectors, etc. You bring only tools and a dab of silicon grease for the tempco resistor.
It is made using the synthCube 'ez-kit' build method, designed to reduce the number of solder points. Connections to the PCB use pin headers wherever practical. Connection to panel potentiometers use three-wire ribbon cables with crimped single-pin sockets that snap on to the potentiometer pins- no solder required!
Soldering is limited to the jacks and switches on the panel. Of course, more experienced builders can always choose to solder more connections if reliability is a concern.
